RESPOND to the following Regents Question on loose leaf paper or you may post your response on the blog. Be sure to sign your post with your first name and initial of your last name, and your class period. DUE tomorrow, January 5th.

REGENTS QUESTION:
Describe the function of organelle X, pictured above, and explain how it is important to the survival of the cell. In your answer, be sure to:
• identify organelle X [1]
• state the process that this organelle performs [1]
• identify the two raw materials that are needed for this process to occur [1]
• identify one molecule produced by this organelle and explain why it is important to the organism [2]

1: Mitochondria
2: To produce ATP for the cell to use as energy
3: Proteins and Glucose
4: ATP is produced and it is important because it is needed for both photosynthesis and cellular respiration
The mitochondria is important because without it, the cell would have no energy to produced proteins

Organelle x is a mitochondria. The mitochondria is needed for the cells survival since the mitochondria gives the cell energy to work. For the mitochondria to make energy it first must undergoes cellular respiration and when the mitochondria does it uses oxygen and sugar and synthesis it in the mitochondria to make ATP since ATP is used in everything the cell needs energy for.

This organelle is a Mitochondria. The process that this organelle performs is cellular respiration. Two raw materials for this process to occur are glucose and protien. One molecule produced by this organelle is ATP it is important to this oganism because it produces its energy.

The mitochondria (x) produces energy for the cell. The food that we eat is broken into simpler molecules and is sent to the mitochondria which later turns into ATP. It is important for the cell because without energy the cell wouldnt be able to do anything. For Example, if you were sick there wouldn't be energy in organisms that would attack the bacteria, therefore you will remain sick. The process in which the mitochondria uses is Cellular Respiration which means cells take the energy stored from food. The two raw materials needed for this process is glucose, and oxygen. An organelle produced in the mitochondria is ATP. ATP is important because it produces energy for the cell. - Aliki Daviotis ( Period 1 )

~The organelle is the mitochondria.
~The process that this organelle performs is cellular respiration.
~The two raw materials are Oxygen and Glucose.
~One molecule that is produced by this organelle is ATP. ATP is important to the organism becasue it provides energy for the system to break down and digest food.

-The organelle in the picture is a mitochondria, which located in a plant cell and a animal cell.
-The process the mitochondria performs is the process of cellular respiration.
-The two raw materials that are needed for the process of cellular respiration, is oxygen, and glucose(sugar).
-One molecule produced by the mitochondria is energy(ATP).Energy(ATP) is important to the organism, because the organism needs energy to move, work, think, and etc.

The organelle is the mitochondria. The process of the mitochondria leads to production of energy. Two raw materials to help are carbohydrates and glucose. One molecule that it produces is the ribosome and that is important to the organism because it contains proteins that have to be distributed throughout the body.

The organelle shown in this picture is the mitochondria. This organelle gives the cell energy & provides nutrients for the cell. The two raw materials are Carbohydrates in the form of sugar (glucose) & Lipids (fats). Mitochondria produces ATP ( energy) for the cell & this is an important molecule to be produced because it gives the cell strength and energy to live.
